The Board of Trustees of The Arc Hamilton County announced the appointment of Mark Shannon as Interim Director of the organization effective July 1, 2010.

Mr. Shannon has previously been seated on the organization's leadership Board and most recently functioned as a consultant to the Board on matters related to financial and organizational development.  He also was involved in the crafting of The Arc's most recent Strategic Plan.

Mr. Shannon possesses more than 25 years experience consulting with non-profit executives and boards of directors/trustees. His work has most often focused on strategic planning, professional networking, coalition building, resource development and the building of asset-based community relationships.

Mr. Shannon was responsible for some of the first development and program management of specialized residences for seniors with developmental disabilities.  Later, he functioned as Executive Director of a non-profit which partnered local communities in the development of housing for individuals with disabilities being resettled from state institutions.

Mr. Shannon said, "I am committed to the work of The Arc and its vision of a community of open doors in which all lives are valued and celebrated. I look forward to working with the entire organization within this new capacity."

Tom Eamoe had functioned as Executive Director for more than eleven years and is leaving the organization to pursue other interests.

A search committee will be seated and a formalized search process will be announced at a later date.
